Fatherhood







Fatherhood.

That’s what she said to me,
Giving me a gentle sleepy kiss.
“Just believe,” and she smiled.

“Believe in what?”
“Just believe.”
“Go to bed now, I believe.”

But wait, “Believe in what?”
“Oh, you know.”
“Something. Anything. Something greater than yourself.”

“Oh, yes, I was seven once,
And I remember believing.”
“What was it you believed in?”

“I can’t remember,
But I believe in you.”
“That’s a nice thing to say.
I believe in you, too.”
